On Feb. 21, 2022, Destination New South Wales (NSW)  welcomed the first international arrivals in almost two years to Sydney, Australia, with a memorable and energizing welcome back to the country’s Harbour City.

On the first day of Australia’s international border reopening, travellers arriving from Vancouver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, Tokyo and Singapore received greetings from the ultimate welcoming committee: an entourage of drag queens and surfer lifesavers, iconic characters synonymous with Sydney and NSW.

Complimentary coffees and fresh juices were also part of the welcome activity. A musical rendition of Feeling Good by Phat Brass, a track recently recorded for the New South Wales Government’s state marketing and promotional campaign, Feel New South Wales, ensured all arriving travellers were feeling good on their return to Sydney.

The unique Return to Sydney welcome activity, collaborated between Destination NSW and Sydney Airport, was the second phase of Destination NSW’s Feel New marketing campaign.

In addition to sending the message that Sydney and NSW are open to visitors once again, the Feel New marketing campaign highlights the unique and diverse natural and cultural experiences available. For information on Sydney, check out sydney.com.
