Federal funding awarded to YVR for safety & climate-related projects

YVR’s 300metre South Runway End Safety Area (RESA) is designed to minimize damages in the event of runway excursions.

The Government of Canada has confirmed new federal funding, through Transport Canada’s Airport Critical Infrastructure Program (ACIP), will be awarded to Vancouver International Airport (YVR) for essential airport safety and infrastructure projects.

This funding comes at a pivotal time, as YVR prepares to welcome back travellers and help lead the region’s economic recovery.

Funding from ACIP totals $38.4 million and will support projects at YVR that include upgrades to the airport’s Runway End Safety Area and its dyke and drainage system.
