Current construction projects underway at YVR

There are several key changes taking place that are designed to enhance the Vancouver airport experience. They include the biggest sustainability projects at YVR to date, new parking options, terminal expansions and much more.

Some projects occurring on Sea Island this month include:

  • Entry to Value Lot closed at midnight on February 28. YVR’s new Value Long Term lot, near the Templeton Canada Line Station, opened on March 1st. For more information about YVR’s most economical option, check out
  • A continuing curbside enhancement project that includes work to glass windows and the sidewalk along the Departures level. As a result, there are several construction zones set up along the Departures level that impact sidewalk and curb access. More information on this project can be found at The work is expected to be completed by spring 2018.
  • Work is taking place in the Domestic Transfer facilities and in the International Terminal security screening area to introduce CATSA Plus, a high-performance security screening system. During the week of March 5, there will be some noisy work taking place overnight in the International area near the Hanami restaurant.
  • There is currently hoarding in place near gates D55 and D58 as part of a terminal expansion project to help increase capacity. A section of concrete will be removed to install new stairs and escalators, resulting in some noise. This work will take place between 1am – 6am and is expected to be completed within a week.
  • There will be various other hoarding around the terminal for continuing upgrades.
