Earlier this year, a $20,000 scholarship was established at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) in recognition of Mary B. Jordan, former Chair of the Board of Directors for Vancouver Airport Authority, and her many contributions to YVR.
This new scholarship was launched to support women pursuing business studies.
The first recipient of the 2019/2020 Mary B. Jordan YVR Scholarship for Women in Business is Dawn Kennedy, who is currently pursuing a master’s degree in measurement, evaluation and research methods at the University of British Columbia.
Kennedy plans to use her skills to engage community members, ensure all members are welcome and included in society, develop skills for people who face barriers to working and create jobs for them in the research field.
Kennedy not only excels academically but is also a community contributor, having worked with numerous organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club, John Howard Society, Community Living BC and Atira Women’s Resource Society.
