Tumbler Ridge in northeastern British Columbia has joined an international group of 120 geological areas that have received a UNESCO Global Geopark designation.

Areas that receive this designation from UNESCO are those considered to have a geological heritage of international significance.

According to UNESCO, such sites “strive to raise awareness of geodiversity and promote protection, education and tourism best practices.”

Tumbler Ridge experiences include driving tours, alpine hikes and visits to paleontological and archaeological sites.
