The Pacific Gateway Hotel at Vancouver Airport is continuing an extensive refurbishment program that includes a renovated courtyard and backyard/garden area.

Effective November 1, 2014, the landmark Delta Vancouver Airport Hotel will be rebranded as the Pacific Gateway Hotel at Vancouver Airport.

“In choosing the new name, we wanted to reflect our location as the gateway to the Pacific Rim, Canada and northern B.C., as well as the local community,” said Alex Watson, vice-president of corporate development, Van-Air Holdings Ltd.

Van-Air Holdings Ltd. is a B.C.-based company, which owns the hotel.

Local management and staff of the hotel will remain unchanged, providing a seamless transition from the current Delta Hotels management company to an affiliation with the Preferred Hotel Group, a global collection of more than 650 independent hotels in 85 countries.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for us to enhance the structure of the hotel and services offered to better suit the growing needs of the Richmond and Vancouver markets,” said Watson. “There is no change in ownership of the hotel. We are delighted that the same team of people who have made the hotel what it is today will remain with us to carry on the tradition of great service that our guests and the community have come to expect from our hotel.”

In addition to the branding change, the Pacific Gateway Hotel at Vancouver Airport will continue an extensive refurbishment program that began this spring. These will include upgrades to existing meeting and conference spaces, a new look to the hotel lobby, including an interactive new lobby bar and social space, and significant changes to both of the hotel’s restaurants.

Exterior changes will include a new marina with additional mooring space, upgraded utilities and accessories and fresh and enhanced landscaping.

“We are thrilled for the opportunity to support Van-Air Holdings Ltd. as it transitions the Pacific Gateway Hotel at Vancouver Airport,” said Jonathan Newbury, vice president of strategic development for Preferred Hotel Group. “It is an amazing opportunity to create a partnership between two family-owned companies that embrace the entrepreneurial spirit and value the independent hotel experience and we look forward to a successful partnership.”

Situated on Richmond’s Sea Island, near the Arthur Laing Bridge, the 414-room hotel overlooks the Fraser River and has spectacular views of the Coast Mountains and Washington’s Mount Baker.

Beginning November 1, 2014, travellers who visit the property will be eligible to enroll in the iPrefer guest loyalty program, which extends points redeemable for cash-value Reward Certificates, elite status and special benefits, such as complimentary Internet to embers upon every stay at more than 500 participating Preferred Hotel Group locations worldwide.
