WestJet Encore crew celebrate the inaugural flight from YVR to Northwest Regional Airport – Terrace-Kitimat (YXT) on November 25, 2013.

From news of its first international service from St. John’s, Newfoundland to Dublin, Ireland to its recent launch of a dedicated television channel, WestJet has had no shortage of great news to share lately. And on November 25, 2013, the airline inaugurated twice-daily, non-stop service between YVR and Northwest Regional Airport, serving the communities of Terrace and Kitimat.

Flight and operations crew joined representatives from both airports and delighted customers to celebrate the very first flight, which took off for Northwest Regional Airport – Terrace-Kitimat (YXT) at precisely 11:40am.

This new service offers important connections for both tourism and diversified industry to this developing region of B.C. as the Skeena Valley is undergoing a major economic transformation, with billions of dollars in investment in forestry, mining, smelting, hydroelectricity, liquefied natural gas and infrastructure projects.

Many “road warriors” who commute to work from YVR to resource sites in the area will appreciate the convenience of these additional flights, which join existing service offered by Air Canada.

Terrace-Kitimat is also one of the oldest continuously occupied places in the world, with people inhabiting the region for more than 10,000 years.

WestJet Encore’s twice-daily, non-stop service between Vancouver and Terrace is scheduled as follows:

Flight 3105—departing Vancouver at 11:40am, arriving Terrace at 1:22pm.

Flight 3106—departing Terrace at 1:55pm, arriving Vancouver at 3:26pm.
