It was a festive occasion at YVR’s Gate A5 with balloons and prizes being handed out by WestJet staffers.
WestJet recently launched its regional service to smaller communities in Western Canada with the WestJet Encore brand.
Arriving at YVR and departing daily from Fort St. John and Victoria, the Encore flights will use a Bombardier Q400 aircraft.
The flight codes will still use the WS prefix and will operate exclusively out of the gates in the Domestic Terminal.
In true WestJet fashion, a celebratory launch event took place for the first arriving flight on June 24, 2013, complete with prizes and cake for all the passengers in the area.
